Although I haven’t written about my Ayahuasca Journey recently, I was reminded in the past few weeks of a phrase I heard during the journey that left me thinking…
This saying is “Feed two birds with one seed.’’
I don’t recall the exact context in which this phrase was said. However, I do remember we were sitting in the sacred circle and this now friend of mine but a stranger at the time said something about feeding two birds with one seed. I don’t even remember what she continued to talk about after saying this thought provoking statement.
I was taken aback. I literally replayed what she said in my head as if it were a TV show and I hit the rewind button to go back again to double check what she said.
All my life (and possibly yours), I’ve heard the saying (and said) “kill two birds with one stone”. This shift in consciousness from killing to feeding had my mind racing in a new direction.
Positive Statements Lead to Positive Subconscious
What is the point of life anyway?
Not that any of us actually do know why we are here and what the meaning of life is… BUT, I’d like to believe that most of us do want to be happy and spread joy rather than hate, fear and any other negative emotion.
Why then are we saying things like killing two birds with one stone?
To be honest, I’ve said this statement more times than I care to count mostly because I believe in efficiencies. To me, this statement always implied doing something in a more efficient manner to be more effective with your time and efforts. However, when the phrase was flipped from negative to positive it was literally the first time I consciously realized (and thought) how negative “kill two birds with one stone” actually is.
And you know what, this saying isn’t the only saying or activity we encounter in our lives on a daily basis.
I remember playing a very popular game as a kid in High School. This video game was called “Grand Theft Auto”. You may or may not have heard of this game, but I imagine from the title alone you can draw a parallel to this phrase I keep referring back to.
In a nutshell, Grand Theft Auto was about performing illegal tasks and had a mafia type feel to it. I was never huge on video games, but I do remember always bypassing the storyline of the game and shooting and destroying as much as I could. Then the police would come in forms of patrol cars and even helicopters to hunt my character down. If memory serves right I even used a bazooka type weapon to shoot the helicopter down.
This isn’t the only violent video game as you know. Violence is around us everywhere we look; you don’t have to look for violence to see it.
So, why are we really so surprised when violent things happen when we are surrounded by violence even with our simple sayings like “kill two birds with one stone”?
Shift in Consciousness (Positive)
My challenge for you, my faithful reader, is to make this shift in consciousness and spread this message with a friend.
Changing our perception of life (our being) is not an overnight task. It’s the little things we do that add up to make a larger shift in ourselves and our greater being as one. If we can make small changes and implement these into our lifestyle, together we will be building a more positive future.
So, please find a way to take this message to heart and make a small change in your own life towards spreading more positivity in your network.
